What is the difference between a successful writer and an aspiring one? The rewrite. Few if any writers have their material flow onto the page ready to publish. The idea, inspiration, energy should pour out without editorial interference. Then the craft of writing begins.We all know a piece of great writing when we read it. But it is often difficult to articulate what makes it great. Writers, like miners panning for gold, sift and sift for the perfect word. Each word, phrase, sentence, paragraph, page and chapter must shine. This requires patience and perseverance. Most of my fiction clients have spent five years or more perfecting their novels.Indulge yourself in the writing process, like any worthwhile parenting, the outcome will be worth the time.
